According to our class syllabus for ENG 312, Introduction to Business Writing, we are expected to learn to “identify how digital technologies and contexts influence business writing and consider critically the unique affordances and constraints of diverse modalities of writing.” In order to accomplish this, I believe that it is necessary to work first hand in these contexts and with these technologies, and this kind of first hand experience is precisely what I hope to gain from the ETEAL applied learning portion of the course.
In participating in an ETEAL course, I look forward to applying the concepts that I have been studying throughout my work in the course, and to expand my knowledge of these concepts by putting them into practice. I hope to learn how to better collaborate with my peers in a formal business setting, and I also look forward to gaining the real world experience of working with an actual local business. I also think that the Service Learning Project will be a great way for me to build upon my resume, and I hope that by having this experience I will be in an overall better position to seize future employment opportunities.
